A rare find in any condition! Brightly illustrated boards are together but completely separated from text. Spine edge missing and has been recently repaired with magic tape? Bessie Brown on front in winter scene. She is holding a muff. Rear cover shows little firl using phone. Ffep has inked gift ownership. Dated 1908 in pencil. Text is quite clean/tight with all color illustrations wtill bright/clean. Minor foxing throughout. Illustrated by JS and two other artists. Polly's guests who tell a story are Jennie Jones shown washing her dolly; Bessie Brown; Carrie Coles shown holding a chicken; Daisy Dimple showing crying; Fanny Forbes shown jumping rope; Hattie Hawes shown looking in a mirror; Mamie Mack shown carriying flowers and wearing a giant hat; Rose Russell who looks just like Mamie is shown at the seashore with sand pail and shovel; Edith Evans who looks just like Rose is shown carrying a basket of apples; Polly Parsons who looks just like Rose is shown with a new sled.
