Bidwell, W H (editor) (Proprietor) THE ECLECTIC MAGAZINE OF FOREIGN LITERATURE, SCIENCE AND ART New York 1850. 21/4 inches thick. Ledger type covers of black with burgandy leather corners, spine and spillover. Gold braid on corners and spillover. Gold lettering and detail on spine are worn. Spine title is spell ed "Ecletic". Owner's name in faded gold near spine bottom. Also neat inked ownership in script 'Alfred Payton Crafts, Union College, November 1850'. Top one and one half inches of spine edges are tor n. Corners are scuffed along with spine and edges. Book in good condition. Front hinge is cracked all the way but book is not totally separated. Rear hinge not as bad. Solid yellow endpapers. Light fo xing throughout. Also some discoloring. Reviews of Ralph Waldo Emerson's 'Representative Men'Nice steel engravures of Arrest of Lady Jane Grey; Henrietta, Queen of England, In Concealment; Hon. Mrs. N orton; Alonzo rescuing Cora from The Palace of the Sun; the Heart's Resolve. All have tissues. First few pages are half separated. One is also partly torn. ; 91/2x61/2; Order number is SV1-37.
