Columbus Anniversry Edition 1492-1892. Drk boards illustrated with red and gold. George Washington and Mayflower in gold details on front. Spine has nice gold eary lady liberty holding wheat and shield which has stars/stripes. Lower 2 inches of spine in badly damaged which affects front board on hinge. This is probably due to the heaviness of this book being handled. Spine top also has open shelf rub as so corners of boards. For the most art boards are still nice with some of the gold rubbed. Board hinges are separatng. This volume contains the contined History of the War forIindependence. Also The Nation which involves the Constitution, presidents, Embargo Act, finances & government, etc lots of b/w engraved illustrations. Text itself is quite clean/tight/normal page browning. ; Vol. 2; 8x101/4; 1328 pages
